Joel and I are taking the Perspectives course online.  It is a mandatory class for missions.  Somehow we missed this requirement the first time around.  Needless to say, the class is really well done and insightful.  The book is HUGE so it can be daunting, but we are seeing that it is worth the effort.  One thing that we were both challenged by is this idea that “we become like what we worship.”  God desires our worship because He deserves our worship –  but, out of His great love for us, he wants us to worship Him so that we can become like Him.  And it doesn’t take a big imagination to consider how much better this world world be if each of us spent more time worshiping Him and becoming like Him.  In fact, John Piper in his publication, Let the Nations Be Glad, introduces the idea that “missions exists because worship doesn’t”.   He declares “Missions is not the ultimate goal of the Church.  Worship is.”  I don’t know why, but for some reason, this is really encouraging to me!  I look forward to moving to Burundi and worshiping.  God will handle the rest.  My ultimate responsibility is to worship God with all I have!
