In 24 hours our family will return to the USA. We will be spending 7 weeks in Michigan and Indiana. We are excited and a bit overwhelmed by this upcoming trip. There are so many things we want to do in such a short time and we want to try to come back rested.  We look forward to seeing friends, spending time with family (especially the cousins and grandparents!!), eating special foods and experiencing familiar places. Joel and I also have to squeeze in some medical education credits (For those who have not heard, I (Janette), did pass my medical board exam in April! That means I have my medical board certification in Family Practice for another ten years. What a relief!).

In addition to these things we look forward to connecting with our supporting churches and individuals as much as possible. With that in mind we are going to be at both Somerset and Wabash Family camps. We would love to say thank you and share what is going on these days at Hope Africa University.

Here in Bujumbura things are happening also. We welcomed Dr. Gerald and Marlene Bates as they returned to Burundi two weeks ago. Bishop Bates will be the interim president for Hope Africa University for this next year. We are happy to have his wisdom and insight as the University proceeds through this time of transition.

The McCropder team of physicians and all their support crew will arrive in country the beginning of August and we look forward to becoming better acquainted as they settle in, learn Kirundi, and prepare for their official start at the Kibuye Hospital in January 2014.

So much Hope these days! We look forward to seeing what God has planned for this year and being a part of His work here in Burundi.
