After a 7 week whirlwind visit to Michigan and Indiana, we are back home again in Burundi.  It has been a week of rest and catching our breath, it has been a week of piano lessons and cinnamon rolls, and it has been a week of preparing for what is to come.

Our first weekend back was not restful but rather full of traveling and connecting.  We drove up country to welcome the McCropders as they take a break from studying Kirundi, and enjoyed a few moments to get acquainted.  Then we were off to Kibuye to meet up with the Jackson Free Methodist team who is here to work with the church in Burenza.  Superintendent Mahinja and Pastor Andrew were excellent leaders.

Pastor Jason Engle provided teaching for the pastors on Sawyer water filters and the filters were distributed to each of the 17 pastors present.  They talked of how we show care to our communities and we want to bring hope and health to those around us.

Our kids did great as any trip upcountry can be overwhelming.  Not many foreign children are seen upcountry so they are very much the center of attention wherever we go…and that can get a little tiring!

We are so thankful to be back to that foreign place we call home for the moment and ask for prayers as the children prepare for another year of school in French and we continue to work with Hope Africa University and the many exciting changes that are taking place there.  We will bring you an update from the clinic soon…stay tuned!
