We are on a family vacation in Myrtle Beach with both sets of grandparents.  We planned this as a special time for all before we move to Africa for 4 years.  Hurricane Irene was passing by as we arrived and we were able to catch a glimpse of her power.

This morning we had a family church service led in part by our daughters.  Leah chose our opening Psalm, Psalm 46 because she knew verse ten.  We were all encouraged and humbled by how appropriate this Psalm was to this time as well as How Great is Our God!

Psalm 46 (part)

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

We are so thankful that God is our refuge. He IS trustworthy.  Celebrating blue skies today and lots of grandparent time before school starts next week!
