We begin our flight to Africa in just over 24 hours. That is causing me a bit of stress these days. Last night I awoke in a panic. I had been dreaming that I was preparing to hand-glide off the edge of a cliff. A very terrifying experience. People were so encouraging, “It is going to be amazing!” “The scenery will be gorgeous!” “You will have an incredible experience.” “What a privilege.” But the entire time I kept thinking, “Great – then why don’t you go? I didn’t sign up for this!”
The truth is no, I didn’t sign up for this. But I did sign up for a life submitted fully to Jesus Christ. A life that overflows with hope and peace because I completely trust Him to know more than me, all the time. I may have imagined something a little less terrifying but let’s face it, Jesus calls each of us to be extreme Christians – obeying whatever He calls us to. So, for me, it is back to His word again where I find my peace and joy in the midst of chaos. Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” I do trust in you, Jesus. Thank you.
