Kind people continue to ask me the question,”So how do you feel about moving to Burundi? Aren’t you scared?”
My standard answer has become, “No, actually I am at perfect peace as long as I don’t think about it.”
The reality is I have never been to Burundi so I don’t know what to think. Any thoughts I do have (often when I wake up in a panic in the middle of the night) are based on stories, pictures and my own fears and anxieties, not truth. So in those moments as I lay there in the dark with my heart pounding, my eyes wide open and my thoughts racing, I want to scream, “WHAT ARE WE THINKING?”
But I don’t (Joel appreciates my restraint).
Instead, I focus on God and pray. I remember His calling, His promises, the peace He has given us, the doors He has opened, I focus on God.
Then the peace returns.
God hasn’t asked me to think, just trust and obey. I can do that. God is good and has proved Himself faithful time and again. He is doing something in Burundi and has invited us to join in the adventure.
My answer is yes – there is nothing to think about.
Is He calling you to join in the adventure? We all get involved in different ways. If He is calling you, don’t waste too much time thinking about it. It is a privilege to be a part of God’s plan!
